turbo question

I was checking my turbo on my j-spec engine while im rebuilding it. well my friend matt made me feel bad first off when he said, geeze thats a small turbo hehe, he has a T66 for his mustang... anyways he checked the turbo for me and said there isnt any play but it is kinda stiff. we think it is from sitting for so long. any suggestions on how to get it "un-stiff"

Mount it on a 13B & fire it up. (just kidding)

Start with the simple approach - pump some 10w30 in the oil inlet fitting

Well I don't know how to make it not stiff but a Mustang has a larger displacement so a bigger turbo is easier to use since there is a lot of exhaust to push the turbine.

I put some oil in it a couple of days ago. Would it be bad to try and spool it with a shop vac, hehe? to get the turbo spinning at low rpms to work the oil in.

Pfft. It's not the size of the turbo, it's how you use it.

The turbo will be stiff until it gets actually oil pressure. Remember that the shaft sits on fluid bearings, so until they "inflate", there will be a lot of friction...
