Thermostat gasket

I just picked up an OEM thermostat kit (thermostat and gasket) from the local dealer. When I rehab'd my car before I drove it home from Florida, I was stuck using an aftermarket thermostat and gasket.

Anyway, the gasket has a "sticky" side, as in you peel some paper off one of the sides like a sticker. Which side does the "sticky" go on, the pump side or the neck side? I guess I have to use RTV on the gasket, but am I supposed to use it over the sticky side too?

hmm, mine didn't have a sticky side. Don't really need RTV either, the o-ring does it all. Just be sure to align the vent hole as per the FSM.

This is an S4, we don't have O-rings, just a gasket.

I stuck the sticky side down, and used no RTV. Been on there for over a year and is not leaking..
