turbo price question

im looking at an 88 with a little under a 100k for 2800,
the guy says that it will need new water seals in a couple months but it has a couple of mods like an fcd and an safc + exhaust. the body is in good condition too. does this seam like a good deal to you guys?
i would also like to see what you guys paid and what mods/problems that the cars had
Thanks

A water seal means you'll need to rebuild the engine soon. How soon depends on how much it smokes right now. The water seals in my engine are starting to go since I've been getting a little more white smoke lately and I can tell from smelling the exhaust.

I would try to get him to lower the price if I were you but then again, I don't know how many TII's there are in Montana...

Yea rebuild is in your future . If you can, I would wait 2-3 months till spring, when there will be tons more cars for sale, maybe you can get one with a fresh rebuild. I am waiting to buy my TurboII till then.

superstock2, It's been both my experience and witnessing that you should treat modded cars that are for sell with great sceptisism. It doesn't help either that you will require a rebuild either.

Then wait a couple of months and offer $800 for it after the engine blows up.

well the guy says that if he doesn't sell it now that he is going to rebuild and sell it for about 4500. i know that i should be weary of others mods because you never no if they just half assed the install or bought crappy parts.
but i've been looking for a turbo so long its hard not to want. thanxs for the advice though i really don't have any idea of what i should pay i mean ive only seen 2 turbos and maybe 3 FD's in the last 3 years!! montana sucks for just this reason everybody loves trucks and irocs on blocks!

I only suggested that you be weary of the mods because the seller may have used them to the max, not so much of a half-*** Install or quality of them.
