turbo oil cooler

i was wondering if any body out there is runing a separate oil cooler for there turbo? iu was thinking off getting a small cooler from summit and plumbing it into my turbo supply line. I have done some research and came up witha few set up for the third gen. Also some people mentioned a thermostate for the tubo oil cooler would be nesasary because of high oil pressure. And last of all is it worth it?

a matter of opinion. No because the rotarys already burn alot of oil as it is with the turbo. Plus it could become costly for you in the future if it doesnt work.

yeah the owner of Rotorsports racing was telling me that the FC oil cooler is pretty good. It's the FD's that need the extra one, because theirs are way smaller.

You just mean a small seperate oil cooler for the turbo itself? Have you been measuring your oil temps to know that they are too high?

In general, it's likely not worth the effort unless you have verified that you are having heat issues. Most turbo damage through oil heat happens after you shut down the car anyway.

Now, running another oil FILTER to the turbo, expecially those expensive aftermarket turbos, certainly would not be a bad thing.

If your making some good power, a dual setup will definatly help, or is you plan on doing track days. The stock oil cooler can only handle so much, and when a IC is placed in front of it, will handicap its ability to cool. Carl or some other guys have custom dual setups. Its not cheap, but can be worth it

no i have not tested my oil temps.I just thought a seperate cooler for the turbo would not hurt but aid in keeping it cool.It is a nice size turbo (GT 40 w/80 82)
