Unhappy turbo is not a turbo

The recent VIN check - thanks POOR RED NECK - shows that the RX7 I bought used to be a turbo, well it's not. A few questions, is the 5-speed different from the turbo and n/a, can I look and see if the tranny was swapped also or will it even make a difference when I change out the clutch. Could someone have just taking of the turbo or I'm guessing it was a motor swap. Are there other differences I should be aware of. Thanks for all the help so far. It doesn't have a turbo hood either, which is fine since it's no longer a turbo.

Good news is it appears to only have had two other owners and I've got the name of the previous owner, gonna see if I can get in touch with him and find out some answers

Thanks

Probably a motor swap. The transmission is different from NA-T but if the turbo engine went, they could easially have put the NA in. Is you engine a 4or 6 port?
Another possibility is the turbo cooked and they just took it off...

Jack up the car and see how many drain/fill bolts there are.

1 drain 1 fill = NA tranny
2 drain 2 fill = TII tranny

Do have a stock boost gauge? Kinda funny if they did a full NA swap!

Yeh they could have just replaced the dashboard, and forgot to change the VIN.
Compare the Engine VIN and the one on the dash.

I'd be willing to bet that if you don't have a boost gauge then there's a vin mixup somewhere. Either a non-origional dash, or someone on mazda's end messed up.
make sure you tell your insurance company that the car is not a turbo!

check all the VIN's throughout the car. The Turbo tranny has a waffle kinda look to it I think, while the other ones don't (I think).

JM1FC332 means turbo (and maybe vert?)
JM1FC331 means non-turbo

do you have a volt gauge or boost gauge in the dash?

they woudln't have swaped the tranny... too much work. if it's turbo. it'll have 2 fill and 2 drain plugs. N/A is one.

what rims does it have?

where was the vin check done? like car fax? post up the first half of it.

does it have model stickers on the front fender?

what are all the options is has? power everything? sunroof, AAS? ect.

year?

There is no boost gauge, the vin is a FC331, the other stuff I'll have to check tonight or this weekend, thanks for the input

Rims are the phone dial, It has power sunroof, but that's it far has power, has A/C, seems to be standard suspension no adjustments

Sounds like AreExSeven has solved the mystery.....thanks

it says N/A base in your profile? meaning it doesn't have options right? if it doesn't have power windows, locks, and power sunroof it's not a turbo II.

CARFAX says every FC is a turbo. Ignore that and manually check the VIN.

If your VIN starts with JM1FC331, its NOT a turbo and never was.

It's no turbo.. it's got a 1 in the VIN instead of the 2..

JM1FC331 N/A
JM1FC332 Turbo
