Turbo N/A idea

I just had an idea, i was reading aaron cakes almost complete guide to turboing an N/A. and i was looking into the intake maniold part. he had to make a custom fitment to connect the LIM and the UIM. from what i understand the reason he had to do thi is because the LIM was N/A and was 6 port. and UIM was a turboII so there was a 2.5 in gap. would you be able to just use a TurboII LIM?? or will it not match up to an N/A block? i know it wouldget rid of the 6 port part but i was just wondering if it would work..

thanks

Damn dude, you might be onto something here! I don't know why no one ever thought of that!

j/k lol...Aaron Cake's site probably confuses people who want to take the less expensive route to boosting an NA engine. Thats probably the most difficult way to do it if you don't have a $1000 welder and some experience.

Everyone else including me uses the TII manifolds because its cheaper and requires much less fabrication. The LIM needs to be ported (easy with a dremel) and parts of it need to be filled, you can use JB stick. If you lay your NA gasket on the turbo LIM you'll see exactly what needs to be done.

I Just finished doing this to me its easier and cheaper to get T2 intake manifolds and port them i used jb weld in the void

I found a dremel tool too under powered I got a small drill bit drill around the perimeter of the hole and then used a cut off disc and dremel tool after the chunk was out i got one of those small drum sanders than go into a regular drill and it was pretty quick and did a nice job

My turbo-NA writeup is actually quite out of date, by 8 years or so. I've been meaning to update it to include using the TII lower intake as this seems to be the most popular way of doing things.

But remember, my writeup is aimed at creating a "turbo-NA" and not a "6 port TII".

Still, it needs to include both options.

Just for the record, my original build was done with a $99 stick welder.
