turbo motor w/ na drivetrain
I am thinking of purchasing a used na motor for fairly cheap ($600) from pete at fc3sracing.com. He said that it would cost around $1200 or so for the parts, and his labor to put it in.
Heres the thing, he said that he is going to use the na drivetrain w/ the turbo motor. I was wondering if that would work because I know that the motor and tranny will bolt, but the na tranny is also weaker than the turbo tranny. I was wondering if you could keep the na tranny, and put in a heavy duty clutch to use w/ the turbo to not damage the na tranny as much.
My other question is if you could use the turbo motor, and tranny, with the na driveshaft, and rear end. I have read up, and it said that you need the entire turbo drivetrain to do that, but I think I heard somewhere that the turbo tranny can work with the na driveshaft, and rearend. Is this true?

My personal opinion is this. I would NOT put a "heavy duty" clutch in the car. Rather I would "test" it out with a stock clutch in it to see what happens. I personally would much rather burn up a $300 part, rather than a $1500 tranny. Just my .02

The NA tranny/rear will take the extra power just fine in hard driving but won't stand much drag racing abuse. If you're constantly launching, a TII tranny/rear is a good idea. For a strict street car, the NA pieces are fine.

I also had a question about the exhaust manifold. On my na, I have headers, and a straight pipe. Would that work in conjunction w/ the turbo motor, say in terms of increasing, or decreasing power output.
