Turbo II inlet duct mod questions...

Hey guys, its been awhile since I have chatted here. But I think I might have found a new Turbo II project. Anyway, My questions are: Who is using a Turbo duct inlet mod? What was your impressions? How easy to install? Does anyone here sell them? How much? How much extra boost/hp might be expected?
Thanks much!

This one guy sells an all aluminum one for $150. Its a little steap but quality looks excellent and its a bolt on application:

I want to do the mod myself with some PVC but will that hold up well enough? I think it cost me like $10 or $15 to do myself but it I will have to do it again in a few months I might just go with the $150 one. I know I know a muffler shop can make me one right? lol

That's my mechanic, Chris Sanders of Banzai Racing. There are quite a few ppl on the forum that have his TID.

Its pretty simple and cheap to do.If you route the wastegate back into the inlet duct its a bit more work, but not too much. I gained 2 psi with a stock turbo.

I was using PVC, but I read that PVC releases chlorine gas when heated up. So I took it out and just stuck the AFM right on the turbo until I can get a metal 3'' 45* bend.

I wondered about using PVC so close to the hot turbo...I will read those recent threads on this subject, but I thought there was a guy, not long ago, selling the TID mod for $40-50ish? It does sound like a good way to increase boost while taking off the prone to cracking & loosing boost old rubber part...Can anyone else state how well it worked for them?

Here is a couple links to PICS of my setup... cost about ~$40 for just the TID portion, but it looks damn good

that 150 dollar one has some corners and ridges, a one piece aluminum that is smooth like a S would flow better

I also made my own...costed me about $25 at Home Depot to build....I couldn't be happier, the difference in performance was huge! Of course, my original TID was cracked most of the way up the bottom!

Yup. Team Home Depot all the way. I used PVC and I have had no problems. Its probably the most worth while mod there is.

What about the stock BOV? Can I put a check valve on the tube that goes back into the stock TID?

I've tried very hard to convince people of this fact, but most seemed blinded by its prettiness...

I think I must be cheap....because for $150, I'd build my cheap one for $25, and spend the $130 leftover on something else...then again, I don't drive a showcar or anything near it!

I'd have to agree with you.

Plus anything shiny under my hood would look out of place

The TID that Rpeck bought (see post above for links) is a much better design. I still wouldn't buy it though, because it's much cheaper to make one (I've done it).
