Could anyone provide me some specs for the turbo 2 aftermarket 3 inch down pipes? I work for a vehicle facility and i work with some fabricators... I need some basic measurements to start to make some 3 inch mandrel bent SS down pipe/mid pipes with half to 3 quaters of an inch flanges.. any help would be awesome.. Thanks

Turbo II downpipe

Hey man,

I'm probably not as hardcore as you, but I used to manage a shop that specialized in performance based Rx-7s. I would suggest that you talk to Steve Haddad at (310) 517-0293. He's in Harbor City, CA and knows the cars inside out. I did not want to get into the engine as it had been rebuilt by Mazda before I bought it and he recommended the downpipe, KnN air filter and a high flow cat.

Since I had a tight engine to begin with, these modifications made the car scream. I can't remember where we ordered the downpipe from, but it fit perfectly and might save you some trouble. I'm sure that Steve could give you some good advice.

You build an exhaust on the car, not from numbers on the internet...

Don't worry about it, as long as tou have the right bolts and flanges, that's a very easy thing for a fabricator to do, all he needs is some wire to get the angles right.

Two points. First, you'd be a brave man to build an exhaust from some measurements the supposedly worked for someone else on there car (not yours), without double-checking everything [i]on the car[i/] as you went. So since you're under there measuring up you might as well just build it on the car like everyone does. Secondly, why would someone build an exhaust, then take it off and measure it? You'd be lucky to find what you're asking for, and foolish to use it if you got it.

For a car like the FC (front-engined, RWD), downpipes are very simple things. An elbow off the flange, a straight length down to the underside of the car, another elbow and then back to straight pipe. Once you get under there it will all be very clear.
