turbo hotside questions
Ive seen alot of pics of other ppls turbos and have seen a common trend. A nice pretty shiny compressor housing next to a rusted fugly hotside. IS there a reason why noone atleast paints it?
ALso would an aftermarket heat wrap be enough to not require the stock tii heat sheilds?

Haven't we ALL heard this
We are talking 1800F+. The only thing that will stay on that metal at that point is a ceramic coating.
Yes, a turbo blanket would work much better than stock heat sheilds.

Says it's good up to 1500F - not 1800+ but it might stick, at least for awhile.
I used some VHT High-Temp paint on my exhaust system to help prevent rust and so far, so good.

how big of a diferrence does the heatwrap REALLY make . my 6port seen cooler temps. even after the install because i removed the stuff for the a/c. well its about the same but it never got to warm. plus it was kinda cold out. mid 40's to low 50's

Most of it is typically ductile iron / bronze composite or sometimes expensive iron / nickel composite.
Rust is something you cannot avoid.
Try driving the car more often.
Heat keeps the moisture from settling on the metal...

You really shouldn't run without a heat shield of some sort anyway, so either paint the stock heat shield with high-temp paint like YoD did, buy a turbo blanket or go for ceramic coating.

I bet my intake and coolant temps would be drastically lower if I had a blanket on but $150 is a big hit to my wallet for one.
