Turbo heat shield install?

1987 TII.

I got my turbo off today for the purpose of installing some heat shields. I thought that it would be pretty self explanitory where they go but I guess it is just not obvious to me.

I have 2 pieces. 1 small and 1 big. The larger one has a bar thing on it. Does that bar connect to something to hold it in. Or do the 2 pieces just connect together and just hang there freely.

This is the large one with the bar thing on it.

This is the smaller one.

uhh dude i wouldent worry yourself with that, i mean its not like the engine is gonna melt because you dont have the heat shileds. I took mine off and destroyed them they were a major pain in the *** to take off. Ive been running without heat shields for quite some time not and there really no diffrence.
Unless you have a larger turbo and are running some crazy boost, id say dont worry about heat shileds at this stage. I know lots of ppl that are running without them.

Read that.

Does anyone have the answer to my question though. How do they go together.

My bro and I made one out of a Del Monte Peach can. Cheap and functional.

Hey Aaron, so when you made your heat shields, where did you bolt them to? They are not just hanging freely over the turbo are they?

I've seen the Del monte shield...lol. They just cut one side od the can and put a hole on the end, i only covers the hot side and i think i bolts around between the two housings somehow. Its kinda funny, but i suppose it will work.....and only costs you like 50 cents to make!

The stock mounts so retardedly that most people end up cutting them off to get the turbo off unless they have the engine out. I would say go aftermarket or get creative.
