Turbo crash with the LIM..

Hi!
I test fitted the turbo and intake stuff today.
Look at the picture! What would you do?
I may grind some of the LIM or cut of the flange on the manifold and reweld it slightly more pointing to the right tower..

What about a spacer? (another flange) between the manifold and the block?

doesn't look like you have spacers on there right now. Why do people insist on picking these FD manifolds up and then posting about why it doesn't fit on thier FC?? If you search you will find plenty of info on why they don't fit and who you can make it fit without the use of welding.

So this is a FD manifold? haha, okey.. THen i know why it wont fit :P I thought it was for the FC..
Anyway, making it fit isnt that hard if i only cut the T4 flange of and reweld it on in a better position

Do you have the exhaust manifold gasket on the engine? It may bring it out just enough to clear. I suppose you could always stack exhaust manifold gaskets, but it is not something I recommend. I think you may find after bolting on the wastegate, you are not going to have enough room for the downpipe. I might be wrong, I just remember something about the fitment of the SSA manifold in the FC.

ahh sorry, i misunderstood what you guys ment.. I aint got any spacer on it i just have 2 exhaust gaskets. Its not a SSA manifold but a custom thing... Ive decided to just cut the flange of the manifold and reweld it in the correct position. That will not change the flow caracteristics to mutch.. I think also have to modify the WG part of the manifold to make it fit the downpipe better...

Get a smaller Turbine wheel? If you can't do anthing else. Also that intake manifold will heat soak being that close. I would Grind off a little if it'll make it clear from both the manifold and the housing. Then I would ceramic coat both of them. inside & out.

yeah ceramic coating would be great.. But i aint got time and money to do it now, so ill buy a turboblanket and cover the manifold with a heatresistant thing..
The manifold is going to be cut and rewelded this week.. I can take some pictures if someone is interested to see how it turns out..

BTW, .. OT but i have to ask, what marking on the pully at the E-shaft is the mark im using for setting my ignition? (newb q, i know)

Here's what I was told when I ask the welder to do the same thing you just described:

"I see what you are saying but can't think of how to pull it off with out weakening the manifold. All that heat put into a small area combined with not being able to gas perge it on the jig would not yeald good results..."

hmm
That sucks, but as far as i can see thats the only solution. I can make a spacer but it has to be divided as the manifold...

Check with your welder, he might have a different opinion than my welder

My spacer is divided too

Yeah.. So getting a divided spacer shouldnt be a problem, but im gonna talk to my welder tomorrow. I got access to heat threating stuff.. Anyway, the exhaust gets pretty hot so _I_ dont see the problem, but yet again i dont know very mutch about material stuff

Here is the final picture. Got it back from the welder today. The welds are great but i had to grind some of inside to get it smooth. Lets hope the turbo clears of the right strut
