Question Turbo COnversion from a NA

I have a 1989 Non-Turbo RX-7 that needs an engine rebuild. I thought that instead of putting in another reuilt non-turbo, I might as well spend a little more and put in a rebuilt turbo engine. I asked the guy who I am going to buy the engine from and he said it is possible but that I will need a new computer for the car. My question is if there are any problems in doing this or any disadvantages? And if there are any advantages in doing this?

Thanks!

Motor, injectors, wiring harness, turbo, manifolds, IC and piping, ECU. I imagine there are a few goodies I missed. Also keep in mind your clutch, tranny, driveshaft, diff, and axles are all made for the low power outputs of your NA. Although you can still use them, just a chance of breaking parts (not that you will).

Buy a TII.

Unhappy Guessing no...

So I'm guessing it is a bad (actually costly) idea. The next question is is there a big difference in speed between a NA and a TII?? I thought I heard somewhere that the NA's last longer or something to that effect.

Acutally its not that bad of an idea if you can find a crased up TII and you are handy with the wrench. If you can find a T2 for under $1000 then go for it

If you really want to do it, that really is the best way-

That way you get the whole driveline too-

Greg has the best/only option.

A turbo car is a lot faster than the NA cars (referring to stock RX-7s). Although my NA has 195,000 miles on it and still runs perfect (not as good as the Ricemobile, but as good as new). People usually blow turbo motors from turnnig up the boost or doing something dumb.
