which turbo 60-1 or to4?

Hey guys, I had my turbo rebuilt at a local turbo shop. I got a s5 turbo, ported wastegate, clipped exhaust fins. I have 2 choices of intake sides to put on.

ar .50 housing with a 60-1 wheel, but there are a few mods to be done. T2GTUS suggested that I could add a masdatrix exh flange to create another 1/2" clearnace. This would work with a little grinding, and modifying the oil and water lines slightly, and putting on longer exhaust studs.

My other choice is to jsut have them put on a t04 intake side and not have to deal with clearnace issues, line bending, buying an exhaust flange, etc

I really dont know how much lag the 60-1 setup will have, but having 300whp would b nice, not that I know what 300whp feels like.

1)which turbo upgrade would you go with?

2)what is the differnce in spoolup of a to4 vs a 60-1

I have a s5 street ported engine . 550cc primaries, 1600cc secondaries, megasquirt ecu, greddy fmic, rb turbo back, walbro fp, and a vortech bov.

Turbo upgrades

The 60-1 rocks!!! The T04 your talking about what size compressor wheel. Do you live is Pasadena California or somewhere else? Just wondering who is doing the upgrades because I need to find a local shop to upgrade some turbos I have sitting in my garage.

Thanks

Yeah, pasadena , CA. I went to Turbo Performance in Van Nuys. Bob is a cool guy, but after talking with a few people, there are other places to go to.

They dont upgrade wastegates like BNR, so if you have a s4 turbo, you will have to figure it out yourself. He charged me $25 to clip exhaust fins, 320 for basic rebuild, and 160 for the upgrade, to4 or 60-1, but the 60-1 isnt fitting well, so I might go smaller.
The only thing I dont like about that shop is they charged me $40 for my wastegate flapper. It had too much freeplay where it goes through the housing, so it doesnt shut well when actuator is closed. I was hoping he was going to put a new bushing in there, but he did not do it. He spent some time working on teh wastegate, there was another issue. So I sitll paid the $40

I'm hoping he didnt put china parts on my upgrade too. DO you kow how to tell?

WAY too large of a compressor for 300rwhp...... By more than 25MM...

A 60-1 is a compressor wheel, in the T4 aka T04 Family.

You have a hyrbid turbo, not a full T4/To4.

Hate to say it but hybrid turbos are a complete waste of time, all they really offer is what people call turbo lag....

There is a reason we don't do them here, I don't care what people will pay us....

Thanks for your opinion. Im going to try the to4 hybrid. Eventually I will have enough money to do a whole kit, but not now
