It's really easy - a lot easier than you'd think.

First off, you need to remove the oil and water lines - the water lines are held on with 21mm banjo bolts.

Next, go get some PB Blaster - it's *the* penetrating oil. Pep Boys carries it, as do most auto parts stores. Hose down the 6 bolts that hold the center section to the turbine housing.

The best way to go about it is to hold the turbine housing in something. I have an old table in my garage with 3 holes drilled in it - I put the downpipe studs in this, and it holds the turbo nice and sturdy.

Get a 13mm combination wrench - yes, it's 13mm - and a hammer. Put the wrench on a bolt, and tap it with a hammer to break it loose. You may need to hit it with the hammer to get the whole thing off.

Now, there are 2 bolts - one at 12 o'clock and one at 6 o'clock - that hit the oil feed and return castings on the center section. Get all the other bolts off first, then do these two. As the bolts come out, they will touch the center section, and help press the center section out of the turbine housing.

It's really easy - usually takes around 5-10 minutes to break it down.

When re-assembling, note again those two bolts that hit the oil passages in the center section. You need to line the center of the oil holes in the center section up with the middle of those bolt holes. It's hard to describe, but you can turn the turbo any orientation, and you want to make sure it lines up just right so all the lines and everything line up and bolt on.

Hope this helps!
Dale
