Is my stationary gear ok?

Hello there. While taking close-up picturs of my bearings, I noticed that there was a small nick in ony of my stationary gears. I was wondering if this is going to be a problem or no? Here is the problem:

Definately smoothen the knick if it protrudes into the path of the eccentric shaft. Aslo look at the shaft to see if theres a score on it. Do you know how the knick got there?

I dont know how it got on there... it might have been when I hung it in my bucket of carb cleaner with a coat hanger, but it should be carbon steel no? that shouldnt dent hardened steel like that!!

It shouldn't affect anything - it's just a casting anomoly.&nbsp The eccentric shaft is supported on the journal bearing inside, so it won't get anywhere close to the metal surface with a nick in it.
