trying to tune: my wideband #'s jump all over the place wtf?

I do not know if this is interference from haltech or due to the high exhaust temps of the turbo rotary, but while tuning the innovative wideband reading go from their normal value to full lean like 20:1 afr. Even at idle it will read a solid reading but then spike. IT makes it impossible to tune accurately.

Does anyone have this problemwith an innovative wideband on a turbo 7?

We tested the sensor in 2 cars and it reads normal so it isnt a sensor problem.

any help?

Where is your sensor in the exhaust.

Are you sure you don't have any exhaust leaks?

the 02 sensor is about 8" from the turbo. farthest point at the firewall.

I have an exhaust leak from the turbo to manifold. I thought this would just cause it to read lean over all. I mean I am cruising and it goes 14.5 spike 20 then back down. It flickers.

I will be changing my exhaust gasket soon

Hum , how does the display react when you let off the gas and decelearate? Do you have fuel cut on decel on?

needs recalibrated.....take it out..do a free air calibration...leave harness conected...reinsert into the exhaust...mine did the same thing...just needs recalibrated in free air

Not that this is causing your problem, but innovate recomends locating the sensor farther down stream because of the hight temps, especially on a rotary.

I'd say fix your exhuast leaks! I've heard of people getting speratic numbers when an exhaust leak is present.

i had a exhaust leak at manifold to turbo and it still read fine....i might compromise your readings though...

My lm-1 had that problem too. Have you gotten any errors? I had a bad sensor. Those bosch sensors are very sensative. Try to recalibrate. I had mine placed before the presilencer on a RB exhaust, so about the same as a stock cat location.

I also had to get a heat sink. Get a square, flat peice of copper about 3x3" and cut a hole for the sensor so it covers the heat from the exhaust. It worked way better after i used that.

no def not a bad sensor. IT was tested on two cars. I am assuming it is the heat then.
I can reweld a new bung on the downpipe say 2 feet away.

This copper thing am I taking a thin sheat of copper (like gasket copper) and inserting it into the exhaust shielding the 02 sensor? I dont really understand what you where saying.

I think the copper goes outside of the bung and just allows the heat to dissipate into the air instead of being absorbed by the sensor. My LC-1 came with instructions on how to make a heatsink this way. I assume most people on a budget don't buy their expensive premade heatsink.

Yeah, I had to do the copper plate also.

However, that was because I was running way to rich and more fuel was burning off in the turbo than the engine.

The symtoms of an over heated sensor for me was (Techedge V1.0 L1H1 sensor) was it reading retarded rich. And when I let off the gas and the engine went to fuel cut....the wideband took WAY to long to show fuel cut.

So, stupid rich and sluggish.

There is only one way to find out....

I looked for a while till I found my copper plate...

I ended up finding the one at a Hobby Lobby store. Artsy fartsy store...
