trouble starting car

arial firebrick hey guys. i have an rx7 TII and i have troubles starting it. it idles very rough and in order for it to warm up i have to keep my foot on the gas. and often does it die if i dont keep my foot on the gas. I am kinda on a budget and dont want to buy unnecessary items. people have told me it could be the ignition coils and spark plugs. another thing is they say it could need a new seal? iono. im fairly new to this. so any suggestions or help would be great. thanks!

Does it idle fine once it's warmed up, or does it stay the same? What RPM does it idle at? Any modifcations?

Good, S4s are easier to fix then S5s when it comes to idle.

My guess is you got a car with a TB mod or some other type of mod that eliminated the thermowax/etc, and made your cold start system inoperable. Not much you can do to fix that unless you get another TB. (way to check this quickly is to see if there is water line running to the back of your TB)

HOWEVER, the idle issues (after warmup) ARE fixable. Few things affect this. Throttle stops, Variable Resistor, Timing, and air mix screw. Now, I could outline the whole procedure for you (and get writers cramp) OR you could get the FSM online (or I will send it to you), and you can read up on it yourself (much easier on my fingers..)).

Sound fair?

Another good article. You may end up making the test lights too, and checking for codes. here is that link also.
