Trouble with Extension Housing part of Transmission.

I'm having trouble re-installing the extension housing part of the transmission after replacing it because it was broken along with the propeller shaft. I don't know which gear I'm supposed to put it in before I slip the housing back on, or even if I'm supposed to. I thought it ws right because there was a gap before until I somehow managed to put it on right ( or so I though), but when I put it all back together and went to shift the gear, it wouldn't move... If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. P.S. This is my first time working on any vehicle, which is why I'm stuck. Thank you.

You mean the tail housing? I bought a vert with a snapped UV joints, and the driveshaft beat/broke the shifter housing mounts and tail housing. Just swapped the housings straight up.

If it's not shifting gears, check to make sure the clutch fork and slave cylinder are installed correctly. I'm assuming you reinstalled the components in the shifter housing correctly and the shifter rod is connected correctly.

I think that's what's giving me the problem, the shifter housing and lever. The fork you're talking about I think isn't placed correctly. What do I do to make sure it's on right? Thank you for your reply.

The service manual is pretty straight forward in re-assembly, take a look:
