Trip to the dump (weighed car)

So the other day I went to the dump to find out what my 2nd gen weighs. The car weighed 1290kg (x 2.2 = 2840lbs) with me in it. So if I subtract my weight (160lbs) from 2840 I get 2680lbs. This weight was achieved without the spare tire, the passenger seat removed and 15L (4 gallons) of fuel in the tank. How light have some of you guys made your 2nd gens?

My '86 Base w/ aluminum package was lightened to 2450Lbs (1/4 tank of gas) by removing 3 cats, A/C, stock seats and minor other things-full interior panels though. Haven't weighed my TII yet, but haven't lightened it much ... Yet!

I weighed mine acouple years ago and it weighed 2810 with a full tank of gas.It also had a speaker box with 2 12's and an amp in it as well.Still had a/c and p/s.The only thing I've done since then is gotten the HKS mufflers and removed the air pump& acv and some things I can't remember but I know when I did remember it came up to 2785 with a full tank of gas.

Haven't weighed the racecar yet but it should be around #2250 if my math is correct. There is absolutely nothing unnecessary in my car.

My '89 T2 weighed in at 2940#. That's with a full tank of gas, lots of hand tools in the bins, and spare tire. I have removed some stuff (A/C, back hatch cover, all audio junk, and back hatch mat). My car is just big boned.

my '86 gt-limited weighed 1140kg with half a tank of fuel, no passenger seat, no back seats, no front bar. it has had absolutely everything unnecessary removed!!
15kg of dead wires alone were removed! i still have a steel bonnet tho.
i expect it to weigh 1140kg with the passenger seat and the front nose back on.

so 2500lbs. how people can get it much lighter than that i don't know, there is next to nothing left to remove on my car.

my EP race car weighs 2130 w/o me in it at the end of a race. At least that is what we go for. I'm usually within 10-15 lbs.

EPRODRX7- your car looks awesome!

Is that Mid-Ohio racetrack in the pic?

Can you tell us what has been modified in your car to get the weight so low? I'm sure many of us are curious and I am aware that it is a racecar......

Meaning do you have fiberglass doors, which windows are lexan, is your rollcage chrome-moly or mild steel, is the hood aluminum or fiberglass, are you running a Tripoint body kit or just Mariah Motorsports front fender flares... or is the body stock, dash modifications, any floorpan mods, headlights removed and motors too?

Do you have a website or more info on your car?

I am very interested in learning more about your car and applying some of the tricks to my '87 RX-7.

Please email me at gnx7@hotmail.com as your email isn't listed.

Thanks and I still am blown away at the low weight.

Forgot to add. My car weighs 2670lbs with no carpet, no driver/passenger area sound deadening, aluminum hood, lightweight rims (spares up front, Bogart drags out back), no rear seat or passenger seat, 1/2 tank fuel, no spare/jack, no windshield wipers, empty glovebox, and it has an engine swap.

I have heard the rear hatch in Lexan saves 60lbs and fiberglass doors save a bunch too.

Do you know of a source for lightweight race doors?

Thanks again,

GNX7
