Transmission problem: i can't shift to any gears while car is running

i have a 90 gxl, i had a nite of drifting and i pushed my car till my muffler turned red inside and started clutch kicking while drifting cuz of too much understeer rx7s have. right before i parked it i was holding clutch and couldn't get into any gearswhile the car was on. when i start the car in first it jumps forward a bit while holding clutch and if you push the car and try to rev match it by slamming it hard into gear it goes but still unreliable to slam the gears hard and when you start the car in 5th it pops back to neutral. also the clutch felt spongy light right before it died. i had a problem like this before where it wouldn't go to gears. i shifted to 2nd gear at 8k rpm it grinded and i couldn't go into 2nd or 3rd for awhile unless i was on low rpms and i couldn't down shift. it got better and that happens after it grind randomly and it didn't grind cause i didnt know how to drive stick it just grinded. it got better and went drifting a few days after. at first i was thinking it was my syncro then after this problem i'm thinking it could be a realse bearing and some of my friends say its my clutch but my clutch still sticky. as of right now i am unable to drive my car since gears won't go in when it's on. any help would be greatly appriciated. if anything i plan on changing the whole tranny but would like to if theres a cheaper besides that

thanks,
jon

it sounds like your clutch isn't fully disengaging to me.

check the hydraulics, clutch fork, etc.

i adjusted the clutch to the highest and i can get into gear if i use force a bit but runs bouncy and smells like clutch after moving a bit, i'm guessing its my pressure plate.

You can take off the clutch inspection plate on the transmission to see if your clutch is releasing or not.

I would check the clutch hydrolics. Have you ever bleed the clutch fluid before? There could of overheated and boiled. Bleed it and see.

sounds like a bent clutch fork.

Try adjusting the pedel engagment thing under the dash out some. My newst rx7 had that prob when i bought it. I had 2 or 3 threads left on the adjustable rod inside the nut before the cluch would fully disengage. Sucks but thats the only fix i had available short of pulling the tranny

yes... but compare to the brake lines... and they are basically the same thing....
the pressure is ALOT less on the cloutch compare to the brakes too

he would overheat the brake lines way before the clutch lines....
