Transmission Problem

Well today when my gf and I got in the seven to head out to my house the car wouldn't go in gear.I was like "WTF...clutch again!" ? I kept trying to put it in gear for a minute & I finaly got the ****** in gear. Now it's going into gear fine but when the clutch is pressed down their is a rattling sound, ive had that problem but not when the cars standing still at idle with the clutch to the floor.I tried to make it home & before I could there was white smoke coming from under the car.I pulled over quickly looked under the car and smoke was coming out around the trans area & quite a bit of fluid was leaking.I had it towed to my house. What's going on here?

Just a guess but have you checked the oil level in the tranny? There is a plug on the drivers side about half way up, its square. Check your rear seal while your under there, if it goes oil runs out mainly when your driving and not when its sitting still(no oil spots on the driveway) The smoke could have been been from oil getting thrown on to the exhaust pipe from the driveshaft.

The white smoke is most likely brake fluid from the slave cylinder or hydraulic line/hose. Refill the clutch cylinder, have someone operate the cluch and look from the top, drivers side of the bell housing to check for leaks.

good luck,
