Transmission Oil Question

Is there anything wrong with filling up the oil in the transmission while out of car? I't a pain to pump oil into trans when connected to engine....

YA THERE IS. Manuel Transmissions like all trannys will spill out of the rear oil seal, where the the drive axle goes. Believe me. use a $10 pump from like AutoZONE. thats what i did. works like a charm.

Or ensure that the driveshaft is seated on the trans while you are putting it in. Its worked for me, but its best to have a second person dedicated to ensuring it stays on.

^ +1. That's the only way I've ever done it. Sized the tube to match the funnel snugly. I dedicated that cheap funnel just for use in that tube in fact. They're still connected in storage right now.

I don't think Home Depot has it by the foot, though that might have changed now. Ace does, or a lot of auto parts stores do too. More expensive compared to a huge roll but more convenient.

Really, it's not that hard to do with the tranny on the car. You hold tube in tranny, buddy fills oil from engine bay. Just install the tranny first.
