transmission cooler

is there a place on the FC 5 speed transmission to connect a cooler? Do you need any kind of pump to run it?

tranny coolers are usually for a automatic cause atf isn't as thick as manual gear oil.

I guess I will get the over sized trans pan with fins cut into it then.

It would require tapping a hole in the bottom of the pan, and a pump. the fill plug could be used as the return line, to answer your question. I doubt that a FC trans would really need more cooling than the aftermarket pans could provide, unless it is getting beat on continuously for hours.

I worked in a tranny shop for years and never saw a pan on a manual transmission.

I've never had a problem with the trans overheating, even after multiple continous runs at Deal's Gap. Just use a good synthetic gear oil. Remember, there's no real pump in a manual transmission like there is in an auto.

really? it extends the pan so you can add 19 more ounces and has fins cut it to create more surface area for cooling

He's not kidding, Standerd transmission's do not have a pan, or a filter for that matter.... No need for them in a stick.

the T2 transmission has an "Access plate" below the gears which can be replaced with a sumped unit.

most manual trannies still have a "pan". its not the same as a auto manaul, more like a access cover. it would actually be very simple on fc's to install a trannie cooler. use the drain plug to pull and the fill to return and then plumb your cooler and pump in between.
