Trans and Rear Diff flush?
Well my trans grinds a bit going into second so I'm going to get it flushed and replace it with either redline or GM synchromesh, as I've seen these are the most recommended. (5spd manual BTW).
I also figure that the rear differential should get its oil/lube changed out (1988 GXL). IIRC it’s a factor LSD. Any recommendations on what product to use? What about the weight for the transmission?
Also how expensive should the fluids be and if I get this done at a shop, what should the hourly charge be (.4, .5, hour?). I think I could do the trans at home (sounds like a PITA), however I doubt I could do the rear. (you have to re-inject it right?). Neither are jobs I'd want to screw up on.
Thanks.

Opinions are like........
Syncromesh is not a 90wt gear oil. It is a thin MTF. Don't use it.
Use any of the synthetic GL4, GL4 safe, or dual rated GL4/GL5 75w90 gear oils for the manual tranny.
For the rearend, stick with a GL5 gear oil. I'd prefer a synth. Some will already have an LSD additive added.
