LOL, i'm not sure that that information is made as available as you might think. You may have to crawl under the car with a tape measurer for that one.

You are putting an NA rx7 transmission in your ford ranger? I mean.. that sounds a little wonkey. But if you give me a couple hours.. I might be able to get you both.. Auto from 91 and NA from 91.

thanks Micaheli, dont know what trany to use, right now I have a 2.3l with a m5od-r1 in the ranger, my options are T5 or a 7's trany I know a mustang t5 will fit, and my m5od can't hold to much power (and dieing anyway) but t5's are rather hard to get here. if the 7's (cov,na, Turbo II, 1st gen 2nd gen 3rd gen does not matter) is the same over all then I rather get the hole set (engine and trany) and be one step closer

o and I'm ether going with a 13bt or a 13b-re depinding on price

Are you 2wd or 4x4? Also, call me Micah... Eli is my middle name. This stupid forum doesn't hold the letter cases of my name....

Micah, my ranger is a 2wd. so no worries about hooking up a transfer case, just a custom drive shaft at most back there (lignth and diffrend splin connector if neeed)

If you had asked about a week ago, I had a tranny laying in my garage, but its gone now. IF I happen to get under the car soon (unlikely) ill take some measurements for you.

I really don't see how it matters. He's not mating it with a rotary... and even if he was.. why not go turbo tranny either way.. he has NONE of the limitations that the RX-7 has with the TII tranny. (ie, larger bell housing size/flywheel/spline count).

If I were you I'd go fer a turbo tranny anyways... and whatever you do... don't touch the RX-7 Automatic. Its a pile.

It sounds like he is swapping in a rotary to me. And with those engines, you definately want a turbo tranny. It shouldn't matter, though, since that have the same basic dimensions.

sideways: no prob thanks though.

micah, no prob man take your time just keeping it up for theres to see, though I am going to put a turbo rotory in the ranger, the main thing is that it fits I might end up with a T5 but if I can get a turbo trany cheaper and it will fit I would go that route.
the main mesurment I need is from bellhousing to shifter, just need the full lignth for the driveshaft.

thanks everyone

I would wait until GETTING a tranny until fab'in a driveshaft up...

Another thing to think about is the amount of slip in an RX-7 Transmission slip yoke. Might not be cool for a truck since the driveline angle is much steeper (unless you are lowering it drastically).. If you went over a speed bump, your driveshaft could fall out. Just trying to help. hehe.

Also, I apologize, I didn't see the part where you are putting a rotary in. However, even if you are... I'd still go TII... Shouldn't be TOO hard to find.. might cost a little bit more... I suppose it depends on how impatient you are. hehe.

cdal: thanks, na I'm not even starting the project untell summer. so I have time.

Micah: yes that is what I am doing, but if the lignth is the same as the m5od, then all I have to do is modify my cerrent driveshaft, if shorter or longer I'm have a new one made. just gathering the infomation I need before I start.

never did think of the slip yoke, But the 2nd gen bII/rangers also have that so I dont think it's alot of problem. and yes I'm lowering it 4link with coil overs should be about the same hight or 1-2in lower than a stock 2nd gen when done.

np man, I know how it is when reading post

thanks again for looking for me micah and for the info.

peace

If I get out to my storage unit tomorrow, I'll get some close measurements, they won't be exact, but I'll try. FYI I have both types sitting next to each other, so I'll get both if I can make it over there tom.

These are fairly accurate measurements I believe

Bellhousing to the center of the shifter is approx. 33 1/4"
Bellhousing to end of tailshaft is approx 32 1/4"

Also both trannys are the same housing to shifter distance.
