Tranny work question

Tranny work question

I am about to pulle the tranny to put in a new throwout bearing and flywheel. i've never done it on the ground before only on a lift how high will i need to lift the car? will i only need to jackstand the frond or will i need the whole car up on stands?

I did this job in a garage pit, that's the easiest way to it unless you have a lift

to do this on the ground will require more physical strenght and I promise this will be a PITA if you do this alone...

get a case of beer and a buddy to help you if you do this on the ground

Ive done it twice. I usually lift the back first, and set it on 2 jack-stands in a low position. Then I lift the front and use 2 more jack-stands that are almost fully extended or about 2 ft up. The tranny easily slids out the front. Use a normal floor jack to get the tranny down and utilitize the wheels to take it out the front. Thats what I do, maybe someone else can elaborate on this.
