tranny won't go in!!!!

ok i have a big problem. i just got a new tranny for my 90 n/a rx7 and it wont go in all the way. it will go in most of the way but i just cant get it in that last little bit. i dont know if u have to angle the engine down or up a little bit or sumthin. if the flywheel wasnt on all the way cud this cause the problem? and i made sure the clutch was lined up properly.
any help is appreciated

pull back, turn input shaft a little bit, try again wiggling back and forth a little bit until you feel it side in, repeat until the splines go in. once you get it in far enough use the bolts around the bellhousing to snug the last bit up.

and yes it helps to angle the back of the engine down a little

I dunno about the flywheel but if your motor mounts are bad it will be VERY hard to line up the motor and tranny, I got my friend to sit on the engine bay facing the driver's seat pushing the motor with his legs while I lined it up.

If you got it lined up properly and over the input shaft, but it wont go the final bit, just insert the bolts and tighten them down. There are dowel pins that help line the tranny up and it can take some effort to get them inserted fully. Remember, you must the 100% sure that everything is lined up before you do this.

Have you checked the Pilot bearing on the End of the eccentric Shaft to Make sure that it isn't being Crushed when you put the Transmission on?..it's located at the End of the Shaft in the Middle of the flywheel(in that Hole there)..If that is good, then A solution to Ease the Installation is to Angle the Engine so that the Front is Up a Touch. When I put My transmission back in I Wedged a Piece of 4x4 in between the Rad Shroud and the Engine...It wasn't the Strongest Piece to Put Weight on,But the Angle was enough that allowed me to slide the Transmission on and Put a Bolt or two on.Another Good piece of Advice is to do it with More than One person.(4 hands are better than 2)..hope that Helps..Good luck.

When you take the trsnsmission out, the top of the engine goes forward. I had the same problem. I wedged a piece of wood against the front of the motor, and the transmission slid right in.
