tranny sealent quesitons

okay ... my tranny has been leaking just a tad bit for a while now ..
i deceied it was time to try to fix it last night ..
jacked the car up and sure enough towards the front a few bolts were a tad bit loose, and was seeping some gear oil ...

i go to tighten them down, and two of the 14 busted ...

i was able to extract one of the studs (after taking the plate off) , but one of them i think will be impossible to get out, unless i drill it and retap it ...

which is what i assume im going to have to do .... problem is i dont have the resources to do that immediately, and i need this car running before the end of the weekend ...

i bought all new bolts for the tranny, as those on there were obviously stressed ...

BASICALLY my question is this ... other than honda bond , what would you guys suggest that i use (and buy at advance auto parts) to help seal up my tranny that will last the next few weeks (longer preferably) atleast until i can get down to davids , and drill that old stud out ... or do you think there is another solution to my problem , that would be more practicle??

HELP

Kind of confused- are you leaking from the front seal of the tranny? You said gear oil, so I guess yes...

If there are 14 bolts holding that bad boy on (only like 6 for an N/A tranny), and you're not missing a couple next to each other, you might be OK until you can manage a permanent repair. Rule of thumb on any panel that's not considered an stress panel is one fastener per every 10 can be inop. Just don't go doing any 1/4 mile runs with her like that, lol...

Since I don't know exactly where you're leaking from, it's hard to recommend anything for a "sealer"...

you know the bottom plate that connects to the bottom of the tranny ..

if you take it off, you see the ACTUAL transmission ... all the gears and **** ..

14 10 mm bolts on that puppy ... only 1 will be a pain ...

i got new bolts, so they should tighten that up a bit ...

previously i used honda bond between the plate and the actual transmission .. since i didnt have a gasket (if there is even one stock) to help it seal, but i just want to know the best subsitute would be for honda bond (syentheic liquid drying gasket stuff)
ive used rtv, before but im not sure what the best would be for this application ...
i need to know the brand name of something that can seal this, that i can buy at any local autoparts store

I have used RTV for years on tranny, water, intake, & oil pan seals with never any leaks.

Read the directions & note where it says to let it partly set before assembly.

The colors matter very little. The red is rated 50 degrees hotter.

The gray color looks best between aluminum castings.

Black might work, but it's very pliable after curing, compared to the red. I'd go with Bill's grey, or red...

Make sure the surfaces are VERY clean before application

Lol, all right- how's this...

I would go with the grey RTV that Bill recommended...

That better?
