it sounds the same... but different at the same time. When you first start it up and drive it does the tranny sound normal? because thats what mine does..... then like 20 minutes later after i run her a little bit harder the tranny is as loud as a ******* train. i have done like 3 tranny flushes, and i got some build up out.. but the noise returnes, i dont think it is the cyncros because that would mean it woudlnt shift right. so i have no clue.

id say this one sounds closest......

Rattling/grinding noise when stopped, engine idling, transmission in neutral, clutch pedal on the floor = Throw-out bearing is bad if noise stops soon after clutch pedal is let up. Bearings are worn out if noise gets worse when pedal is let up.

BUT i ordered a new throwoutbearing...ARG....is this T2 tranny a pain i havent had the pleasure of removing it yet....

when was the gear oil last changed and what was it changed with???

and if you don't know, you should not be posting about tranny problems. First thing first, is to change out the gear oil.

it was replaced a week ago with the gear oil the haynes book called for. i dont remember off the top of my head but it was changed.

Bearing or gear noise in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th but gone or very less in 4th. Bearings are worn out. Rebuild or replace transmission.

that sounds like my problem... ****

If it's less noisy in 4th- thats the only gear that bypasses the countershaft.
The weakest point in the tranny is the input gear that drives the countershaft.
The input gear is not loaded in 4th.

But - before you start looking for a J-spec tranny, check the rear mount.
If the rubber is about gone, you could simply have metal to metal contact at the mount which could amplify any normal noise.

heh no no no no im ontop of things...just changed it 5 days ago to Royal purple...(it was doing it before i did the change...) and after the change i noticed everything felt creamier smoother..BUT still that damn noise....the throwout bearing and rear main seal was also changed about 3k-4k ago.....when the mazdaspeed stuff was installed(clutch pressureplate..) so i mean everything is relativly good to go....besides that sound....

i checked agian this is exactly what i get...

im going about 45-50 in fourth at 3k and it begins to rattle...i shift to fith....from 2k to 2500 in fith its loud to the point i cant hear the engine nor the exhuast...a rattle i let off...it calms down when i give it gas it starts up again.....car drives great....but this sound is worrysome...

thanks for the input...any other info would be a great thing..
