Different from what.

If you already had a 13b S4 tranny in there and you made use of the factory crossmember, then you need to use the S5 crossmember. If you made a custom crossmember for the tranny, then, you might need to fix it to work.

If you are putting it into the datsun 510 for the first time.... You shouldn't be asking this question.

hmph

like i said before ... i had a 86 tranny in my datsun. i now have a 91 .. the big difference between the 2 are the tranny mounts.. the 86 has the holes for the mounts on top but the 91 has the hole for the mounts on the side.. im wondering if the factory 91 mounts end up bolting on to the same place as the 86..

Sorry, I read over the 86 part..... But I still answered your question I think..

But, if you have both transmissions, why don't you just compare them? The mounts ARE different between the two, but using the RX-7 crossmembers would be a solution. That way you can just swap the crossmembers.

But, if you fab'd up the first one, why can't you fab up a second one.. Welding up a tranny mount wouldn't be that hard. You could probably adapt your existing one relatively easy.

true

fabbing up another one wouldnt be that much of a pain but it still would be a pain.. if i have to i will.. But ive never seen a 91 tranny mount.. so i wonder how its gonna look compared to the 86. if the mount is the same and the only difference is the way it bolts on to the tranny im fine.. but if its entirly different than a fab job is in order.. if anyone has pics of the tranny mount on a 91 let me know.. thanks

Yes.. One each.. That dust cover is covering it up in the picture.

Each rubber mount has a post/stud through the cross member.

If you take them out, the tranny will transfer a LOT of engine vibration/driveline vibration into your frame...

You'll feel the difference without them for sure... I'd leave them there. I've heard of problems with breakage without them as well; not sure on that one.
