tranny making wierd sound

tranny making wierd sound

ok when my car is on and clutch is out, i hear something spinning. is it normal? because i ripped out all my shifter crap. like the sound foam and rubber stuff cause im redoing all the bushings. should i do anything? like redo the tranny fluid or something?

normal, don't worry about it. If it gets to be really awful, then start worrying, but it sounds like it's just a soft sound, so I wouldn't worry at all. Also, depending on how long you've had the car, I'd say change the trans fluid anyway, just to be safe.

It's most likely the main bearing for the input shaft. when you step on the gas in fifth gear it whirs a bit louder right, or when you have it in gear you push the shifter up all the way in that gear and it stops? If so then odds are that the bearing is getting worn, but you should have all kinds of miles left on it, so like falcoms said, it's normal so don't let it bother you; regardless of how annoying the sound is
