ultimate newbie lookin for FC info
hi i'm lookin at buying a 1987 RX-7 GXL, and i have no clue whatsoever on anything about this car. GXL probably means non turbo, that's all i can assume. how are the reliability of these engines and eagerness to pass smog?........... anyone know the curb weight and hp/torque? How many miles are too high? (I do'nt know how many miles are on this one yet) I also don't understand the S4 or S5 things, though those would mean the different generations of RX7's. Thanks a lot ahead of time, hope to be joining the community soon

Looks like saw this thread before the search police did...
I recommend reading a lot before going too far. Kudos for reading the FAQ.
I have to pass emissions in Ohio, so I'm running a Bonez High Flo Cat system from Rotary Performance in Texas ( www.rx7.com ). It's a great product and costs about $300. I have no major problems with my car, and it has nearly 160k miles on it (non-turbo).
These cars are getting some age on them, so count on spending time and money getting it into top shape. Do you have any specific information on the car you are looking at?
