Tranny Installation

I'm starting to get frustrated and call it quits,"And I'm not a quitter".
I've been trying nonstop for 2 days in the cold *** garage trying to put the tranny back on after the clutch flywheel job.
I've already found out that the tranny won't go up into or out under from the body unless you turn it sideways to get around the pre-cat.
But I've tried the wiggle, and I tried the giggle, I've even tried the engine tilt, while pushing with my feet and turning the driveshaft.
Nothing worked. If I can't get the damn thing done in 2 more, I'm bringing the car in 2 pieces to the shop and getting them to do it for $200

Please help my pockets!!!!

My grandfather,"certified mechanic,"says to loosen the bolts holding the pressure plate on, and line it up. Tighten it after the clutch and tranny are lined up then tighten the pressure plate, and push it up the past inch and vioala.

I don't know if that works on this particular model of car though.

Help Please!!!

I also remove the pre-cat and wedge a stick from the radiator top brace to the engine to tilt it back.

No, don't try and "pull" it together with bolts. You've got to have the engine tilted downward more than when it is sitting loose on the motor mounts. Get the exhaust out of the way, and make certain that the pilot bearing is in the dead center of the clutch disc. If you used an alignment tool it would be pretty easy, but that also has some play in it. The pilot bearing must be centered. Once centered and engine tilted more than normal, get some help, or us a jack to get it up there and in.

What I did is get under the car from the front (so my head is pointing to the back of the car, and bench press the bellhousing into place while a friend is tilting the motor back. The rear of the tranny is supported by a tranny jack.

This is what worked best for me.

i put the tranny up on a jack and slid it up into place a lil bit stuck the shifter back in it and put it into gear, put the driveshaft back into it, and turned the driveshaft a lil at a time and just kept sliding it forward and pulling back and turning again until it all went into place. and then pushed it all the way in and bolted it up.

try turning the flywheel just a little with a big screwdriver in between stab attempts, and like sunshine said, on your back with your feet pushing on the bellhousing and your hands supporting the weight & jiggling it from the back...

Yeah,
!!EVERYONE LISTEN!!

THE CLUTCH ALIGNMENT TOOL THAT MOST COMPANIES ACCOMPANY WITH THIER CLUTCHES ARE NOT MEANT TO HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE CLUTCH DURING INSTALLATION. YOU HAVE TO DO SO MANUALLY WHILE TIGHTEN ON THE PRESURE PLATE. IT IS SIMPLY MEANT TO HELP YOU WITH ASSEMBLY NOTHING MORE. IT IS MOST LIKELY A MASS PRODUCED UNIVERSAL ITEM AND EVEN THOUGH THE NAME ON THE PACKAGE MAY HAVE A DIFFERENT NAME IT IS MORE THAN LIKELY FROM THE SAME DAMN SWEAT SHOP IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC.

TRUST ME WITH THIS!
I'VE LEARNED THIS FIRST HAND AND PAY'D FOR IT.
