Tranny help needed.

I just put in a drivetrain that I bout from a guy that was sposed to have been rebuilt.

I got the whole thing and drove around a bit yesterday while tuning. The last time I pulled into my garage and was unable to get it into reverse. I can not get it shifted into 2nd, 4th, or reverse. 1st, 3rd, and 5th are easy.

Is there something easy or hard to fix? Plenty of gear oil. Wires are all attached.

Let me know. I only have three other trannys ready to go in, but I want the easy fix, not rolling around under the car for an evening.

Is this something electrical with the solenoids or not. I can't even shift into gear when the car is shut off.

I suspect the problem is right at the base of the shift lever.

Pull the boot & lever out & see if something is jammed in there:
It's a seperate chamber with some gear oil in it.

If all is good there, then it's probably an assembly problem with the interlock pins.

I have a copy of the FSM at the link in my sig.
Check out the transmission section.

There are no electrical solenoids unless you have automatic

I have pulled the shifter and boot. When I try and put it into reverse, I can hear the gears grinding. I can get it part way there, but not all the way. I have tried shifting with a screwdriver when the car was not running and still can't get it into gear.

Does your dash readout have the gears Park, Reverse Neutral etc.? It could be a conversion from an automatic. When I did mine, I had to cut away a small part of the body to shift correctly. Automatics also had electrical connectors. You should be able to tell if the transmission is coming thru the center of the whole under the boot or closer to the rear of the car.
