Of your car is an auto it should be right in the engine bay. If it is a 5spd then you have to go under the car

Use Redline MTL or the 75W90 gear lube. IT works. Drain all your fluid through the bottom. Put the plug back in, not too tight. Add fluid until it starts to run out of the fill hole, its in the side of the tranny. Put plug back in. 20 minute job, total. You'll need almost a little over 2 quarts if I remember correctly.

Oh, here's a hint, remove your fill plug before the drain plug, cuz if you can't get it off, you're fuqt if you drain it all first

how did you guys get under the car to do this, anyway?

I don't want to jack up only one part, be it the front, back, or one side, because it'll result in an improper amount of fluid.

What other options do I have? I don't have enough jackstands to put the whole car up, either...

I lifted the left side of the car. If anything it has more fluid than needed. I measured it out and I used 2 1/2 qt's like the haynes said.

If jacking the car on one side or in front only you should not fill till you feel fluid at the fill hole. You are correct. you will most likely have too much in it doing it that way. Do what 1987Rx7guy recommends.
