Tranny Clunking.. havent heard this one before...

1990 NA 4.3 rear end.

I have a very odd problem that happened very randomly today. While driving 2nd gear and up, in high RPM 5k+ I was getting a clunking nouse sounded like it was comming from the right side, my GF said it sounded like it was from my side. later into the day the clunking stopped and then i heard like a rattling metal sound from around the shifter.

And now about 10 minutes ago, im getting that same clunking noise, but it sounds more from my tranny i guess. Im fairly sure its something to do with tranny. it dosnt do it in nuetral.

Is this maybe a tranny mount? im not getting any vibration. speed dosnt matter. its just high RPMs maybe a U-joint? again no vibration.

Im very confused... Ive had many-o tranny problems in the past, but nothen quite like this. I searched and didnt really find anything that matches up with my problem.

Any help would be mucho apreciated!
