Tramping Problem, Found cause?
Hey guys.
Ok on my FC im running tein coil overs all round, a detroit locker with re amemiya 4.8:1 gears. The springs are pretty damn hard too.
17 x 7 inch Volk Racing rims but with 245's on the back (fat for a 7 inch rim). They are a 45 series tyre so as not to feel every bump in the road so much.
The car sits pretty low equating to 3.5 neg camber on the back.
Whenever i have been launching i hear a thumping sound from the back so i thought it would be the front diff mount, but upon inspection it is still in awesome condition, aswell as every other mount - rear diff, gearbox and engine mounts.
Im pretty sure the rear tyres are just hitting the wheel arches and thats the thumping, this only happens when i launch hard! If i take off nice and then boot it i can hold it every gear and everything is so smooth! The diff is beautiful too.
I spoke with my mate who owned the car before me and he says its because its so low the irs is suffering as all the angles are heaps out.. something like that anyways so it tramps more then it should.
So the question is what do i do! I dont want to raise it as it sits very nicely! Maybe try and make the suspension even harder (adjust the suspension), get a smaller profile tyre and maybe a little narrower 225's maybe? Or the worst would be to raise the car a bit! :/
I have to see where the tyre is actually hitting maybe i just need to raise it a tiny bit so the camber comes back into something a little less?
Anyone else been through this?
Andy!
Ps heres a pic of it!
