trailing firing with the leading

I can't find the thread for this. i thought it was in the single turbo forum but I tried every search I could think of with nothing. I would like ot know more about this. Are there major power gains to be had?
I have a race against a claimed 425 hp bowtie that makes me kinda nervous. so anything I could do to improve my power to weight ratio.

The RB catalog/tech pages touches on the subject briefly. They only mention it as a problem on the first gens and other cars with aftermarket boxes. They say, "The result is very dangerous at higher power output." That's about it. Not trying to rain on your parade just passing along what I read.

yeah, I'm not wanting to run it forever or anything. I just want to do it to race this guy. I don't have a high out put or anything. It is just an '88 n/a with all boltons and lightened. I am also trying to finish my ported intake befor I run. I just want to know the pros and cons from everyone
thaks for the heads up though

you can't really do it with leading set to "normal" specs... you have to retard a little bit.

I wouldn't bother with it until you get a standalone computer...

BTW hate to break it to you but you're gonna have to run 11's to beat that chevy... good luck!

I don't think he is making 425. I am guessing aroung 325 or less at the fly.He has just ordered go-fast parts and put them on the motor when he rebuilt it himself. it isn't ballanced, it isn't blueprinted. he just ordered parts that claimed high horses. he has performer heads and light weight pistons @ 10:1. and a 750 double pumper. I don't know what cam. with headman headers and 2.5" exhaust. And he weighs over 5,000 pounds. he and his dad rebuilt the motor in the garage with standard tools. he is also running standard street tires where I have perfomance. but I am also thinking of getting two of those DOT wrinkle wall drag tires. just to get that extra little bit.
come on guys. I could do this just for one 1/4 mile run right?

Well, if he has the performer RPM cam and didn't screw up the tuning, and everything you describe, yeah that sounds like a good 425-430hp at the flywheel.

5000lb? What is it in, a '76 Caprice?

ASSUming 5000lb, that should be in the mid-low 13's. Still not gonna touch that with a N/A FC without serious engine work. (Porting, ditch the EFI for a carb, etc.)

A friend of mine had the exact same setup in a '69 El Camino. He used to run mid 13's at 100+mph, spinning the tires all the way. Put slicks on it and he immediately went 12.20 at 112.
