Trailer hitch?

Was one ever offered for the FC? I like the idea of being able to tow a small trailer to the track.

A friend of mine had a 86 with a draw-tite hitch. You could probably tow another rx7 in case the one you were driving broke down...

I towed a room full of stuff and my ninja behind my 7 on my way to college. This forum said it couldn't be done. I have the power, the brakes, the tranny & clutch. Frame didn't bend, everything is fine.

Thanks for the link, it is just going to be for towing a 4x6 trailer to the track. Its kinds hard to bring 4 to 6 tires, gas, fluids and tools to the track in a caged fc.

I guess the added weight on the rear gives more traction in the corners... a secret weapon???

I bought a fixed-receiver hitch from U-haul less than 6 months ago ($169 shipped IIRC), but they don't seem to carry them anymore. I use mine to tow a 4'x4' tire trailer to autocrosses and track outings.

A quick look to hitch-web.com shows them carrying the same model for essentially the same price. I've ordered from them before with success.

There's nothing wrong with towing with an RX-7. It's perfectly safe to tow small loads. We're not talking about towing an RV type trailer behind the car or anything, just a couple hundred pounds on a small trailer with some tires, tools and such.

It also looks like the hitch is pretty well hidden from sight. I'm gonna have to pick one up.

Teach me how to drive 2 cars at the same time and I won't buy one. Like I said before you cant fit alot of stuff in a caged FC and a small 4x6 trailer would work wonders.

I've towed NACRA 5.2, NACRA 18 Square, Hobie 14 (we all make a mistake in life somewhere) and this day I towed a Raptor 16 to and from the lake. The other boats were towed from Ft Worth, Tx to Corpus Christi Tx (approx 400 miles each way).

So, I guess it's possible to tow with a RX-7. In fact the first two boats above were pulled with a first gen at one time or the other down to Corpus........mit air conditoner running.
