Traction Light turning on and off. Loss of power

1987 FC NA GXL

Hey whats going on everyone ! Hope yall enjoying the summer . Well if its not raining but we make the best out of it .

So last night we gtta crazy rain storm , i was at work, getting ready to leave. Car turned over just fine, but before i started driving I noticed my traction light came on and off. I drove around the parking lot and realized i lost power steering, my lights where dim, car seemed like it was held bak . when i was idle the car seemed fine , power steering worked. I restarted the car and everything checked fine , idled fine drove around and everything seemed fine , until the light came back on and lost power. Parked the car for couple hours, came back tried to start but didnt felt like battery was dead, but turned it over second time and it started right up and drove home just fine.

I believe it may be my alternator not giving enough power to the car causing everything else to malfunction ( radio also was intermediate turning on and off ) car was sluggish at times also.

just wanted to get some feed back from yall , if this has ever happened to anyone.
this is the first time its happened < just wanna be safe than sorry

Thank you

first we'll need to figure out what light actually came on, since no RX7 ever built had traction control.

I would have guessed ABS was the "traction" light, but I don't believe a 1987 GXL came with ABS.

its actually the antilock light turning on and off with the radio and dash lights. Just tried turning on the car but not enough power the first time. turned over second crank. Drove it around, checked out fine.

OK guys be nice... we've all had to learn

Check all your wire connections and grounds, especially at the alternator and battery.
Welcome to the electrical mess that is the second generation RX-7!

I apologize if I was out of line. I was hoping to make the OP laugh with us at our eccentric vehicles.

EDIT: +1 for Bayside, Queens! I miss Slims bagels.

Give the crowd credit-they were not cruel enough to suggest checking the Framis Valve.

What's going on here?

Alternator? Battery? Where is this "traction light" you speak of and how does one obtain it?

My old 87 gxl had abs (giant conjunction box near exhaust) it was nice till it malfunctioned lol. That part sucked. But anyhow, abs was an option starting in 87
