ouch...that blows...
for some reason i didn't think 12 was a coil pack though
'
Edit: there is a reason for that...
EDIT: ok maybe theres not.
EDIT: I had to do some searching on this one!
Thread author has an S5, Code 12 refers to out of range TPS.
that was confusing eh?

EDIT: ok this is Obviously series dependent.
85-88 S4: Code 12: Trailing Pack, failsafe is to disable...
89-91 S5: Code 12: Full Range TPS, failsafe 100% throttle.
91-9? S6: Code 12: Full Range TPS, failsafe 100% throttle.
S5 TPS Adjustment per TPS

Ok, this is the method I used, and its the only one I got to work correctly... TPS Adjustment (based s4, but just use the same wires for the s5 and it works fine) per RETed: http://www.fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/TPS/tps.html

It means when the TPS enters failsafe mode (the sensor is out of range, so the ECU compensates witha set value) the value it uses similates the throttle plates/throttle being wide open all the time.
Now imaging having the plates closed at idle... but the ECU still is telling itself that its wide open. Massive amunts of fuel are being dumped into the engine.
