Can a bad TPS cause a S4 N/A not to run at all?

Or under what curcumstances will a car with no TPS run? (S4)

 

if it has a bad TPS i think it would still run as long ad your foot is on the gas.. ? i might be wrong.. how does the car not run.. does it get fuel and what not and just doesnt start or what?

 

The car will run with a bad TPS. It will just idle funny and throttle response will be a little hesitant.

I've drove over 50 miles with my tps unplugged (ooops... don't forget to plug it back up after testing ).

 

yeah me too, all it affected was deceleration, it kinda pops and backfires, as the fuel isnt being cut.

 

a bad tps can also cause flooding.

The things the ECU looks at during a START, are shown in the attached jpg.

MOST likely your car is flooded, even if you don't smell fuel. You should install a fuel cut switch and use it to confirm that your problem is flooding.

There is a cheap way of proving it. This method is considered backwards thinking by those that pull fuses etc, but it is better: Disconnect the fuel pump plug. Buy a can of starter fluid. Spray for not more than two/three seconds into the airfilter. Go start the car with a fully charged battery.

If it starts for a moment or two, then repeat a couple of times. Then reinstall the fuel pump plug and start the engine in a normal way. If it starts, then make a fuel cut switch and USE it.
Flooding is normally because of low compression. The low compression means the fuel delivery amount from the ECU is toooooo much. It was meant for a healthy engine.
