Unhappy total loss of power, barely running....blown??

i was driving home tonite, after racing my cousin once and it being not a all-out race at that
all of a sudden (about 5 minutes after race) i lose power, it wont idle, and revvs VERY slowly
i limp it home, amid backfires the size of small bombs....
what could the problem be
also it beeps a series of beeps, dont know exactly yet...very late
anyways, could it be something OTHER than a blown apex or coolant seal???

btw 86 gxl

check your fuel injector plugs. i had a similar problem before. turns out one of my primary injector plug wires backed out of the the injector plug.

take a look at that, and of course a poor mans compression test would hurt either.

Do the compression test first.

Mine went yesterday.

I had the same scare a week ago. I did poor mans compression test and the pulses were all even (good sign) for mine it turns out the leading coils went and I was only firing on the trailings. So after compression maybe check for spark?

First rule of rotary troubleshooting:

Compression Check.

Then, you know what you have to deal with. Either a bad shortblock, or if that passes, a control system problem such as fuel, spark, etc.

Now you know why we told you to do that. This is an example of why I say the first rule of rotary troubleshooting is always compression check.

could all 3 apex seal go out at the same time??
Yes, they usually do. ONe seal breaks, but the fragments fly around inside the engine while it is running, and this causes massive internal damage to the other 2 seals, as well as the rotor and rotorhousing. 90% of rotaries die this way in my experience.

the car isnt even worth a rebuild...to me
Well, Ill take your word. You could always get a rebuild from me, they start around $1000. ****, even a used engine, as bad as they can be, is better than junking the thing out.
