torn injector O rings??

I had my injectors cleaned and all that good stuff about a month ago. I installed em about 2 weeks ago. I finally got everything done I needed to and went to fire up my car today. I immediately smelled gas, and shut the pump off. Low and Behold, my Primaries were leaking @ the injectors where they meet the fuel rail.

I pulled em off and found the upper first O rings were torn. Any Ideas why they tore?

It's probably not your fuel rail because your injectors, i'm assuming, weren't leaking before you pulled them, honestly if you took the time to remove and clean the injectors, you should have replaced the o-rings. I remember one time I pulled a trans to replace a clutch and didn't replace the output shaft seal, put it all back together and it leaked really bad, so i learned my lesson just to go that extra step

check and see if they're broken...it seriously takes like 10 mins to check it out. you cant just rely on the fact that they are brand new. if, for instance, the rings them self were all dry when installing, you could of torn them. anything could of happened while you installed them. just because they were brand new doesnt mean that they are indestructible.
pull them off and check them out.

Ohh, I got em pulled and out. They are torn. Was just wondering if anyone else had this problem with new O rings, and what they did.

Mods. Feel free to delete. PRoblem has been fixed.

You need to put a lot of vaseline on them when you put the o'rings on the injector AND when you put them in the fuel rail. Well, not a lot, but you HAVE to put vaseline on the o'rings. Common o'ring install practice in aerospace.

a friend of mine (1st gen man) got his brand new from mazdatrix and they tore. stock t2 engine with 8 pound flywheel and 3 puck clutch. he threw his old ones on the injectors and it was fine. its not that big of a deal. atleast something to be all woried about. swap your "new ones" for some that arent torn. if you want put some "lube" on the O ring so it goes in nice and smooth. put everything back and see how it works.

Get the o-rings from a part store, they are standard Denso injectors. It is critical that you lubricate them before installation... I used motor oil, vaseline works, whatever really. Then seat the injectors and jumper the fuel pump check connector (yellow two prong on the passenger side shock tower) before you even put the car back together. Then you can fix it without having to start the car and check.

Thx for the help guys.

FYI, if you use RC Engineering for rebuilding the injectors, they have had some problems with their orings leaking. I have them rebuild them, but I use OEM Mazda orings.
