top went down, won't come up

It's been a long time since I drove my 88 vert. I put the top down today and removed the targa top. Now it won't go back up. I put on the parking brake and turned the ****, nothing. Anyone know if I'm doing something wrong or forgot to do something???

If its not beeping at all, the limiting switch on the passenger side motor, or the main switch are the common issues.

I had problems with the limiting switch, I got to the point of pulling the linkages off and just putting the top down by hand. Or to do it right find a good used passenger side motor(if that is in fact your problem) for $20 in the classifieds on here.

Yeah, no beeping at all. Looks like I'll be looking into a motor. Any way to bypass the limiting switch?

check your switch.
Also, at least on my s5, you can put the top up and down from the engine compartment.

IIRC that switch was external, so you should be able to bypass it in theory. I'd have to look at the diagrams to be certain.

If you need the top up right now, there is a spot to do it manually behind the drivers seat under the spare tire cover.

Does anyone have a diagram or a pic of the manual top operation?

I went behind the seat and looked all over. Didn't see any manual release lever. My spare tire isn't in the car so it's just open back there. What am i missing??? Or is it some sort of bolt I need to turn?

if I remember there is no lever, you have to turn a screw or bolt
