Top speed for 88 FC(NA)
I topped out at 132 the other night. It was at the rev limiter in 4th gear. Shifted into 5th...speed went down. BTW, this was while ripping on a newer Maxima. He was about 3-4 car lengths behind the whole time...but YES I beat him....believe what you want. Is it possible to break through the limiter in 5th?

Nope, 135 is about as fast as N/As go. More power = more top speed, though, so do some mods and get back to us And did you remember to Shift mad quick, yo? If you shift like MAD quick it'll get you to lke 200 or some ****

All it has is some "minor" interior weight reduction, RAtive intake w/K&N cone style filter, and Opak mufflers(OMG, someone please shoot the previous owner) that sound like crap. All I could muster was a 16.2 at the track. My first time drag racing(legally anyway)....Planning on having the PS and CC actuator out within the next week....if I can get someone to show me how....tell me all you want over the computer, phone...whatever. I need it shown to me.

I wouldnt be disappointed with 132 if I were you.. I've dumped almost $6k in my car and it tops off at 138 or so... My goal is to peg the speedo (150) and I'm looking for a low 15 to high 14 sec 1/4 mile. Should be done this summer But if you wanna go FAST, get a motorcycle, or get boost.

Ahhh, so I'm not the only one with the "peg" goal. I'm suprised that my car still wants to go that fast....with 132,000 miles on it and all....BTW, I have an 88 SE(NA)

To be quite honest.. I dont think a non-ported N/A could hit 150 without cheating (downhill, NOS, wrong wheel size to get an indicated, but not actual 150). I think the fastest I'll get to is low 140-145 max. So close, yet so far... I'll let everyone know how it turns out this summer though..

-16.2 you need to learn how to cut down your 60' time that will take the most time off your 1/4
-WEIGHT REDUCTION is a must.
-132 is a good top speed for a NA I dont remember the formula for wieght vs drag vs gearing vs HP to calculate real top speeds but I know the FC supposedly needs 220 hp for 150mph and like 12 or 13 hp for ever mile per hour over 150
My best 1/4 was 15.0 that was with no interior and no AC, snog pump, power steering (belt removed), no spare jack. If i could unbolt it it came out. and I was still fat at almost 2200lbs with out gas or me.

Actually he WAS racing. We went at it twice. Took him the second time up to 120 then I had to get off. My tires? Not too trustworthy after last weekend. It's hard to get away w/speeding that much. I usually don't go over 100. Trying not to kill my car. I'm just hoping that she'll make it to Nevada....BTW, I'm so hoping that I can grab a 15.9 w/new tires. I kinda got the launch down. No more top speed runs for a while

paulc, wtf is a snog pump.....
lol.....damn you guys should seriously consider a TII if your top speeds are 135 mph.
im not laughing at you n/a guys just that snog pump thing!
not to rank on you guys but thats not that fast at all. maybe a 50 shot of nitrous would get you over that 135 hump!

Why are you guys so fixated on death?
Is is my fault that I like to drive fast? Sure, going to the track every now and then is fun, but RX-7's weren't built w/drag racing as the main intention of the car.....BTW...no turbo for me....I'm not about to start ******* w/boost....yet anyway.....

Umm.. he suggested 4.70's because its a shorter gear. 4.10's are too tall. 5th gear at 135 puts me at ~5200 rpms... WAY outta my power band... I'm not running out of revs, I'm out of power. As I said before, gear limited top speed with a 4.10 rear end is 181mph. Thats a HELL of a lot faster than any streetable N/A could ever see. He had the right direction... Unless you wanna hit top speed in 3rd gear with gear limited top speed in 5th at 250mph? (not exact numbers, just making a point)

But it probably wouldn't go much faster because the real problem is HP. The aerodynamic drag increases exponentially so the need for HP to increase speed is multiplying, not adding.
