Question Top Speed?

Hey guys...just a simple question. I have an '86 NA Rex, and I was wondering what the top speed is without mods. I can never really tell because all the highways here don't allow me to push 130-140. I have only gone about 115 (and that was deep into 4th gear). The engine was re-built about 50,000 miles ago, and that's mostly highway miles. Thanks alot.

Mike
Silver 86 NA no mods.

128mph with a HELL of a lot of road, a more realistic figure is like 122mph to do it safely.

Question Speakers...question for VetteKiller.

Hi-

I was wondering. I am looking to put some good speakers in my car..but I don't know what to get. Since I have an 86, it might be different..but...how did you fit 6.5" in the back (on the shock towers I assume) when the stock are 5.25"? Also..how hard was it to install the rear speakers...and more inportantely the front ones. Also. you said the front was Boston Acoustic...where the HELL can I buy some of those...and what else might I be able to use besides that brand. I am clueless as to what size woudl fit in the front. All of my speaker additions I would like to be NON MODIFIED...or at least not alot. Oh yes..my head unit (Sony Xplod) puts out 46 watts for 4 channels.

For a N/A

Maybe 130 - 135 mph for '89 - 91. '86 - 88 maybe 125 - 130.

I've only gone 130.... that's on a back road in the middle of the city!! There are no nice smooth stretches of highway here without cops every 10 feet. I would like to know what the car can do, I only want to do it once!!

I have went about 125mph
with a modified bonez intake,
and custom cold air box.
As for the speakers fours in the front,
Bostons rock, and you can make a
speaker mount for the rear towers
out of a 1/4 inch plywood board.
All you have to do is make a design
oh and paint it black it looks much better.

speed

125 sounds achieveabl.e I have no mods so it' unlikely I could go 145.

As for the speakers...it woudl just be easier to put 5.25" in the back (standard size) cuz I dont feel like modifying ****. Also..how hard were the Boston 4" to put up front under the dash?

I hit 140 in my '87 base model (my old white one), haven't tried out the new beast yet.

Oh, and Matt thanks for stealing my install idea, lol.

completely stock 86-88 top speed is 132mph give or take a few, this is at sea level, 60 degree's with 28 barometic pressure.

89-91 is 137 with the same settings.
