The spare tire is designed for use of about 50 miles, and under 55 MPH.

Handling and traction will go way down if driven on.

I would not recommend using it for a week even if you only drove 50 miles per day well alone 120.

They should be replaced at around 250 miles on them as they really are designed only for temporary use.

Go to the closest tire shop and buy a used tire, and keep it once you get the new tires on, so you'll have a real spare if it ever happens again.

I would add Kumho to the bang-for-buck category, and delete continental from the wear category. I can't tell you how many 911's and 986's (Boxsters) came into the dealership to have the Conti-Sport's replaced. Most often with Michelin. Maybe it's different with a 7, because you don't have so much weight in the rear.

I've got the Kumho Ecstas on my '91 N/A and I love 'em. They hook up really well and when it snowed, they were great! Of course I could break 'em loose, but they maintained stability very well for a unidirectional tread design. I got the 205/15/55 series and that seems to provide a fairly compliant ride and still offer great grip for the twisties. They were fairly inexpensive and I believe the treadwear rating is medium/high (I forgot the actual number). I would recommend the Kumhos.

I have 225/50/15's and my last set of tires wore considerably in the middle, i beleive they are to tight of a fit.

my vote

i just got new bridgestone pole position s03 from tire rack for my 300z - outstanding - sticky, and low road noise - that's my first 100 miles impression. the tire place also thinks it's a good tire. beats the dunlop i had before. i will buy it for my Tii once the existing cheap *** pepboys tires wears out.....

worth every cents for me..

I just got Kumo's and they are very sticky. Tested them by going 70 around a highway curve posted 35 and had no slippage (a little body roll though lol).
supposed to be good for 20-25k miles.

P.S. I love my 7

Icemark,

Why do you feel this is superior to the stock 205/60-15?

I need to replace the tires on my Vert (no track use, just everyday driving) and am curious about the advantages of that size to what's on the car now.

Thanks,
ck
