fuel pressure regulator on 87
fuel pressure regulator on 87
i think my fuel pressure regulator went out but not sure
alright before i bought my 87 the guy said he had to replace the fuel pressure regulator or it wont run
and a while ago my idle started being rough (you know not consistant ) and it was taking longer then usual to start it then in got to a point where i had to turn the key twice and the second time it would start
wen it went out i was driving and i tryed to acellerate but it jus bogged down so i took my foot off and tryed it again and it bogged so wen i pulled over to the side of the road i t died and i tried to star it again and it trys but it jus dosent
can somone help cus it was only 5months i had it and dont think it shuld hav went out that fast so can ther be somthing else that can make this happen
also the guy said it was a hi performance regulator b4 now is a stock 1
shuld i go stock or adjustable if it is the prob

That doesn't really sound like a fuel pressure problem, but if you want to check it you need to tee a fuel pressure gauge into the fuel line just after the filter and see what the pressure is with the vac line on and off the FPR. A mechanic can probably do this for you if you want.
i hav never changed it i only had it for 5 months
i took of the regulator yesterday and is it susposed to be blocked wen you blow into the holes cus wen i blew in hard it didnt have no passage it seemed all blocked

If you blew in the hole for the fuel passage, it should be blocked. You're blowing against a spring loaded diaphram that should take about 35 psi to move. When it moves, it opens up the check valve so that fuel can flow through the regulator into the return line.
The vacuum line connection provides vaccuum assist to help move the diaphram, so that only about 28 psi of pressure is required to open the check valve at low load conditions.
Edit: If you blew in the vacuum fitting, that should be blocked also.
